Called the "lei of royalty", the maile vine lei is given to men and women to signify respect and honor. It is often seen at weddings, graduations, etc. This traditional lei was considered sacred and is often worn by hula dancers in honor of Laka, Goddess of the hula. This open ended lei is 60" long and made from 4-1/2" x 1-1/4" and 3" x 3/4" deep green maile leaves with 1/2" green straws in between.
