KING KAMEHAMEHA HULA COMPETITION
Held in honor of King Kamehameha, this competition has categories for men, women, and combined. Highlights videos include winners and other memorable performances, with the meaning of each song/chant given prior to each performance.
Ancient style hula and Oli (chant) competitions. Excellent costumes and routines including "Ula No Weo", "E Liliu E", and men and women together dance "Nohili". Also special guest Tangaroa Teamaru Ariki, a chanter from the Cook Islands, plus impromptu dancing by the kumu hulas. (70 minutes)
