KING KAMEHAMEHA HULA COMPETITION
Held in honor of King Kamehameha, this competition has categories for men, women, and combined. Highlights videos include winners and other memorable performances, with the meaning of each song/chant given prior to each performance.
The theme is songs recorded by Genoa Keawe. Darling routines to "Keiki Hula" and "Dolly's Lullaby" with ingenious "convertible" costumes and dolls, Kupuna (elders) couples do "Ahulili", and "Alika" is done by men in sailor uniforms, performances by Genoa Keawe, and impromptu dancing by the kumu hulas.
