This graceful Traditional, Deep-Sided, Multi-legged Kava Tanoa/Bowl was handcarved from one piece of very dense Ironwood/Ifilele so it is quite heavy. Large pieces of this quality of wood are becoming increasingly hard to get as the trees are very slow growing. It has the traditional straight sides and deep bowl. This type of many-legged kava tanoa is unique to the Country of Samoa and is much harder and more time-consuming to produce. It has a lovely grain to the wood on the inside of the bowl and has the natural luster patina which was polished with a pig's tooth.
